October 16 will be the third Saturday of the month of October and historically, residents of the 5 biggest lakes area in the US have celebrated it as Sweetest Day.

Manufacturers of sweets began to celebrate the holiday way back in 1921 and used it as a day to give gifts of sweets to the underprivileged, orphans, senior citizens, etc. located in and round Cleveland, Ohio.

The Sweetest Day ceremony is observed by all Americans even though it’s mostly predominant in the states around the Northeastern parts of the US. People normally buy presents such as chocolates, flowers, cards, etc. that are normally shared on Valentines Day.
