White House: Pakistani Taliban is Behind Times Square Bombing
Senior White House officials said that the Pakistani Taliban were behind the failed bombing of Times Square on May 1, 2010, by Faisal Shahzad, an American citizen of Pakistani descent. Faisal Shahzad, a U.S. citizen of Pakistani descent, are believed to have spent five months in Pakistan before returning to the United States in February and prepare attacks.
Shahzad has told investigators that he was trained in the lawless Waziristan tribal region, where both al-Qaeda and Pakistani Taliban operate. He was arrested on board an Emirates Airlines jet in New York just minutes before the scheduled for departure to Dubai.
John Brennan, chief counterterrorism adviser to President Obama, saying that apparently Mr. Shahzad, residents of Bridgeport, Connecticut, who spent five months in Pakistan until February to work for the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP. The TTP is believed by some military intelligence officials to have joined al Qaeda and may hide some senior leaders, including Osama bin Laden, who is the driving force behind the attacks on 9 / 11.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Washington expects more cooperation from Pakistan in fighting terrorism and warned of “severe consequences” if attacks on U.S. soil works and traced back to the South Asian countries.
