Video gambling delayed
Video game gambling won’t be accessible anytime soon after the Illinois Gaming regulators changed their minds about an already done deal for software to regulate video gambling in bars and restaurants slated for next year.
The deal was worth $89 million and was signed with Scientific Games Corp. in August 2010 but the contract is now open to the general public to submit bids after the first deal was spotted with anomalies which gave an unfair advantage to the winner over its competitors.
A representative of the regulation board stated that this new development will lead to video gambling not being available until July next year after an initial expectation of January.
The Illinois state hopes that video gambling will help generate $300 million in yearly revenues and used to fund some of the $31 billion expenditure generated from redevelopment programs the state’s Governor, Quinn drew up.
The governor’s representative says even with the impending delay of video gambling, the reconstruction efforts will still go ahead as planned.
