Make money online in music downloading, an ethical issue?
Music industry giants have been trying to make unapproved free downloading on the internet come to a halt for the past couple of years and have now taken their case to the US government. A new law was proposed to the US senate a month ago will remove sites that give illegal access to music online to make consumers pay the accurate amount for music downloads if passed.
Their campaign is however not going to achieve success easily as 80 percent of music download sites are illegal.
Currently, many consumers as well as legal sources are backing the campaign to abolish free music download online and make consumers pay for getting music access online. The senate has taken a break at the moment and the proposed music download bill doesn’t seem like it will be getting approved anytime soon.
Michael Wood, a music professor of Canada’s Algonquin College stated that even though it would be great to abolish illegal free music downloads, its very impossible as more serious crimes such as child porn hasn’t been abolished up to now.
Music stars claim that free illegal downloads online rob them of the ability to make money from their intellectual abilities.
We all wait to see if the campaign to abolish illegal internet music file sharing becomes successful.
