Google Wave

Google announced that it going to cease development of Google Wave. However, the service will continue to operate at least until the end of the year.

Google is cancelling Wave. The company announced in its the official blog that it will stop the development of the cooperative work service Wave, while promising to keep the service active “at least until the end of the year” and incorporate wave technologies in the company’s other services.

“We weren’t certain how users will accept the different media type,” reads the blog, when writer Urs Hölzle – executive vice president, praised the service’s various uses such as media sharing in real time and enabling developers to build new tools. “Yet despite these victories, and many loyal fans, the adoption of the Wave data were not satisfactory” .

Google Wave was announced just over a year ago in May 2009, when Google is tried to market it as a tool for creating and sharing innovative means of communication. Despite the initial hype, created in the wake of the most exclusive service in beta, few registrants continued to use over a long period of time.
