Weight LossThe makers of a new weight loss supplement called Mirafit claim that people can continue eating a typical “American” diet of mid to high fat foods. While taking the supplement, ArtJen Complexus USA LLC says that people can lose either a pound or up to a pound and a half every week.

Catherine Jen, the chair of nutrition and food science at Wayne State’s College of Liberal Arts, and Joseph Arliss, an associate professor of pathology at the same university, Wayne State University School of Medicine, created the supplement. The company, ArtJen Complexus USA LLC, sells the weight lose supplement both locally and online.

The FDA has reviewed the drug, and says that its active ingredient is generally recognized as safe (GRAS). The active ingredient is called Mirafit fbcx alpha-cyclodextrin. The supplement is made from a corn based soluble fiber, and it works to reduce the absorption of fat into the body.

The instructions for taking the supplement are that a person should take six tablets every day. If consumers do this, then the supplement will reduce the amount of calories consumed from 2000 calories to 1500 calories because it is preventing the body from absorbing the fat. A 2000 calorie diet is the average calorie intake for a normal woman, and men need a slightly higher amount around 2100 to 2500, depending on weight.

In terms of percentages of weight being taken out of the diet, using this supplement means that the consumer is taking out anywhere from 50 to 60 percent of the fat in their diet. This amounts to around 25 percent of the person’s total diet. This means that the consumer can use this supplement to lose weight without having to drastically alter his or her diet.
