2011 Ford Explorer – history-making SUV
New York’s herald square was a sight to behold when the new model Explorer SUV was released by Ford this morning. Ford’s new car on the block has a lot of similar designs from Land Rover formally owned by Ford is a major shift in the new design strategies being implemented by Ford to the highly esteemed family-friendly vehicle.
According to statements by the carmaker, the fresh Explorer confirms the company’s new bid led by its CEO Alan Mulally to design a line of vehicles made just to satisfy the needs of customers. This explorer is also set to attract more customers than previously.
The Ford Explorer came onto the scene in the early 1990s and the car was the icon for mid-size SUVs then. The only other cars competing with the SUV at the time was Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, both with time, both cars couldn’t match the Ford Explorer. Outwardly the car was seen as very tough and yet it offered customers luxury and comfort in the interior which helped attract younger folks who wanted to give an impression of toughness.
The latest car is even more loaded with more capabilities. It’s still tough and very strong but also designed with luxury and comfort to give you a more comfortable ride. It’s powered with a 290 horsepower V6 engine for standard vehicles and another model that comes with a 237- horsepower V4 engine which performs as much as the v6 but with a fuel efficiency of 30%.
The strange thing is that the v4 engine will cost more than the v6 engine though the actual prices have not been revealed yet.
